Quick & easy operation via touchscreen or multifunction buttons
The colourful, centrally positioned 5-inch touchscreen makes it easy to find a beautiful decorative stitch or the desired embroidery design and optimise the thread tension. The multifunction buttons allow you to quickly change the stitch length or width and position an embroidery design. Sewing and embroidery tutorials provide you with valuable tips on how to use the machine and the sewing advisor recommends the best stitch for your fabric.
Plenty of space and light for your sewing projects
Keep an overview thanks to the four bright LEDs that optimally illuminate the large sewing area of 230 mm to the right of the needle. The additional free-arm slide-on table makes large quilting and sewing projects even easier to handle.
Embellish fabrics with decorative and quilting stitches
Of course you can sew straight, zigzag, elasticated stitches or buttonholes with the b79. It also offers beautiful decorative and quilting stitches that you can use to embellish your sewing projects. Do you want to change an existing stitch or create a new one? It's all possible with the Stitch Designer. Your customised stitch is saved temporarily and you can save it in your personal memory for future projects.
Sewing function and automatic thread cutter
Thanks to the securing function, you no longer have to sew backwards to secure the seam at the end. Simply press the sew button and the seam end will be sewn automatically. Then press the button for the automatic thread cutter, the threads are gone and the seam is finished! Want it even faster? Then programme these functions on the foot control with back-kick function - all it takes is a press of the heel.
Even more sewing convenience
The semi-automatic needle threader makes threading child's play - the presser foot automatically lowers to the correct position and the thread can be fixed in the side thread cutter for threading. You can sew even more comfortably with the knee lever, which raises and lowers the presser foot with knee pressure, leaving your hands free to guide the fabric. And the integrated, easy-to-activate dual feed ensures even feeding of all materials.
Embroidery module with three embroidery hoops and hoop recognition
With the three embroidery hoops included, you always have the right hoop for every size of your embroidery motifs. You can embroider designs up to 260 x 160 mm in size without rehooping. The hoops are easy to open and close thanks to a quick-release fastener. And the automatic hoop recognition function shows you the corresponding embroidery area on the touchscreen so that you can optimise your embroidery design.
Creative variety of embroidery motifs
Over 200 embroidery motifs and 7 embroidery alphabets are already integrated. The designs can be edited using the touchscreen: rotate, mirror or combine them. Want more? Additional embroidery designs can be uploaded via USB stick, e.g. those that you have edited and combined with the BERNINA Toolbox embroidery software. The b79 is compatible with most embroidery design formats - no more tedious conversion in embroidery software.

Be inspired by the possibilities of the Lettering and Editing modules and the additional 300 embroidery designs and 100 alphabets. Both modules are included as standard and offer a large selection of embroidery designs that are available to you in the BERNINA Cloud. You can get creative directly in the cloud and convert embroidery motifs into your personalised design on your tablet or laptop.
For optimum sewing and embroidery results
With the 7 mm stitch plate, you can sew wonderful full-width decorative stitches. The straight stitch plate, which is also included in the standard accessory pack, ensures optimum embroidery results. Your machine automatically recognises the stitch plate used and shows you all the needles that can be used. It also automatically adjusts the adjustable stitch width range.
